On November 8th, health, justice, and safety are on the ballot! Make sure you elect officials who are going to fight for a brighter, more equitable future for us all.
CAREGIVING: The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the fragility of our caring economy: caregiving expenses skyrocketed and caregivers were without workplace protections. Our elected officials must do their part to ensure fair wages and access to care.
Check if the candidates will take action to create a caring economy that values and supports women and families:
- Search for where caregiving is in their platform
- If they’re an NYS legislator, check how they voted on S9029A/A10209A & S06655/A07661 (two child care expansion bills)
- If they’re currently in Congress, see how they voted on H.R.1195 (workplace protections for healthcare workers), H.R.5547 (improve access to and quality of caregiving services), & H.R.7791 (Access to Baby Formula Act of 2022)
WORKPLACE: It is past time for our workplaces to treat all employees fairly. Make sure your elected officials are going to do what it takes to protect workers.
Check where building equitable workplaces ranks in your candidates’ priorities:
- Search for where equitable workplaces, pay equity and wages are in their platform
- If they’re an NYS legislator, check how they voted on S9427A/A10477 (salary range disclosure), S5870/A7101 (retaliation protections), S812B/A2035B (sexual harassment hotline), & S6549/A5308B (salary history ban)
- If they’re currently in Congress, see how they voted on H.R.7 (Paycheck Fairness Act), H.R.842 (Protecting the Right to Organize Act 2021), H.R.1065 (Pregnant Workers Fairness Act), H.R.2116 (CROWN Act), H.R.3110 (PUMP for Nursing Mothers Act), & S.4524 (Speak Out Act)
REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS: In the wake of the Dobbs decision and with rising violence against marginalized groups, it is vital that we elect leaders who are going to enshrine our right to abortion and protect our most vulnerable. We all deserve to have bodily autonomy and live without fear for our safety.
Check if the candidates will safeguard abortion and codify discrimination protections:
- Search for where abortion and discrimination are in their platform
- If they are NYS legislator, check how they voted on S9039A/A10094A (abortion and gender-affirming care protections), S9077A/A10372A (protections for abortion providers), & S51002/A41002 (Equal Rights/Equality Amendment)
- If they’re currently in Congress, see how they voted on H.R.5 (Equality Act), H.R.55 (Emmett Till Antilynching Act), H.R.1620 (Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization Act of 2021), & H.R.8297 (Ensuring Access to Abortion Act of 2022)
