Similar to the State of the Union address delivered by the president every year, the New York State governor annually delivers a State of the State address at the start of the legislative session. This address provides New York residents with a report on our state and the governor’s vision for the future – which is why it is so important that we as New York State constituents pay close attention to what the governor outlines as his top priorities for 2016 and his budget plans. The Rules
Every time the governor mentions one of the key phrases on the BINGO Card, put a tally in that space on the card. Remember: he may use several of these phrases more than once – that’s a good thing!
Put a new tally in the space each time he mentions that key phrase, and let’s see how many of our policy priorities overlap with the governor’s agenda. At the conclusion of the State of the State address, add up the governor’s BINGO score.
Here’s how:
- Outer Ring (gray) is worth 1 point per mention
- Inner Ring (lime) is worth 3 points per mention
- Center (green) is worth 2 points per mention
- Scoring: <50 points = D; 50-60 points = C; 60-75 = B-; 75-85 = B-; 85-95 = A-; 95-100 = A
